Bomb crater pond

In the south-west corner of Walthamstow Marsh, within the cattle enclosure, is a round pond known as 'Bomb Crater Pond'.

The crater marks the point of impact of a German V2 missile on Sunday 11th February 1945.

The resulting explosion blew out windows and showered Latham Timber Yard with a thick layer of mud, but no one was killed and only one person injured.

A V2 rocket exploded nearby at Coppermill Bridge in October 1944.
