John Rennie

John Rennie (The elder), Engineer (1761- 1821)

Rennie visited Lea Bridge Mills in 1804[1] and later advised parties engaged in negotiations on the control of the freehold or leasehold interests before 1829.

With Robert Stevenson, he is associated with building the Bell Rock Lighthouse.

Rennie’s associates and pupils include many figures associated with the Lea Bridge including Ralph and James Walker, Walter Hunter and William English, W.H. Ashpitel, Greaves, Dodd and Wicksteed.
